Another Year.

2015 – The year I had hoped would be radically different from 2014.

In some ways it was, in some ways it wasn’t. As I approach my 26th spin around the sun (as my good friend Nate used to say), I wanted to take a look back and discuss a few things that I haven’t really been able to yet.

The year started off rocky – I had been unemployed since November and things weren’t looking great. I had interviewed with Twitter, Google and Facebook, even reaching the final rounds with the latter two, but ultimately not landing anything. After finally accepting a role as an advertising consultant in the US and thinking things were finally starting to look up – another blow. A good friend of mine, Nate, fell ill and passed away suddenly. It was a turbulent time of trying to make sense of what happened. On top of that, I was dealing with the adjustment of working from home and literally not seeing another human being for 6 out of 7 days of the week around that time (not an exaggeration). For someone as extroverted as myself, this was incredibly difficult.

At this time, it looked like 2015 was about to be a repeat of 2014. I just had to be patient – it wasn’t.

The remainder of this year has been some of the most important months of my life for various reasons – I’ve become closer with a small group of friends, I finally had a chance to visit the Facebook HQ in California and see how my work is impacting clients first hand, and most importantly – took the trip of a lifetime by travelling all over Western/Southern Europe for two and a half weeks by myself. Oh and how could I forget? I met Drake last Friday and got to shake the hand of the 6ix god himself. If that’s not the best way to end your year, then I don’t know what is.

If you remember last year’s posts then I plan on structuring this year the exact same. Over the next week – I will be writing about seperate topics of what I’ve learned from the events that transpired in 2015. You may not care about specific categories (or any at all) so feel free to pick & choose what you read.

Again – thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts, and I hope you are able to take something away for yourself.
